Extra Credits Game Jam #6 Post-mortem
Hey, so this is my post-mortem for my entry to the Extra Credits Game Jam.
This game was done completely solo, with some free assets
from www.opengameart.org, and the unity asset store and www.freesounds.org.
Theme: Take Care.
So the idea for “Don’t Die” was to take care of yourself during the finite amount of time you have. Collect as many coins as possible before you die and collect hearts to try and stay alive for longer.
The concept, looking back on it now, was quite rubbish. I could have done a lot better but I really wanted to make a simple platformer since that’s what I know how to do. The game is quite buggy, with some of the colliders not working and the background glitching sometimes. Although the actually design of the game was bad, I tried to make up for it with a bit of polish. Some sound effects and a nice main menu theme from www.freesounds.org made it a bit more fun to play, in my opinion.
I showed the game to my brother, who pointed out a massive flaw...the game couldn’t be downloaded. Luckily for him, I could fix that issue in time to submit it and he played the game. He liked it and overall gave me some good feedback, but from a amateur dev viewpoint, it’s design was terrible. But it was my first ever published game and......it’s finished so I’m proud of my self for that.
So.....well done me I guess :/
Thanks for reading!
